Job Summary:
Reading Anthracite Company is seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join our 2nd shift team. The Welder will be responsible for performing welding and metal fabrication work related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of mining equipment and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding within an industrial or mining environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding on a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
- Repair and maintain mining equipment, machinery, and infrastructure, such as conveyors, crushers, loaders, and shovels.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding processes and techniques.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and structures to identify welding requirements and ensure all welding work meets quality standards.
- Operate welding and cutting equipment safely, following all safety protocols and company policies.
- Use grinders, torches, and other tools to prepare metal surfaces for welding.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot and solve equipment-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of welding equipment to ensure it is in safe and proper working condition.
- Adhere to all company safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety meetings and training sessions
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate in welding or metal fabrication is preferred.
- Certification from a recognized welding association (e.g., AWS, CWB) is an asset.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of welding experience in an industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environment.
- Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core) and in using welding tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures in a mining or industrial setting.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and operate in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
