Position: Library Security Officer
Compensation: $17.00/hr
Schedule:
Thursday-Sunday
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to security, including monitoring premises, enforcing rules, and responding to incidents. The Security Officer will play a crucial role in loss prevention and ensuring the safety of all individuals on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Security Cameras: Stationed primarily at a desk, continuously watch surveillance cameras to maintain awareness of all activities on the premises, focusing on identifying and addressing potential security concerns.
- Greet and Assist Patrons: Provide a warm and welcoming presence, greeting patrons as they enter and exit the premises. Assist visitors with directions, information, and any customer service needs.
- Conduct Hourly Foot Patrols: Perform hourly foot patrols of both interior and exterior areas, ensuring a visible security presence and verifying that the site is free from loiterers, homeless individuals, and other unauthorized persons.
- Maintain Vigilance for Suspicious Activity: Stay alert for any suspicious behavior during patrols and while monitoring cameras. Take appropriate actions to address or report any potential security threats.
- Issue Ban-and-Bars: When necessary, issue ban-and-bars to individuals who violate site policies or pose a security risk, following proper procedures and documentation protocols.
- Enforce Site Policies: Ensure adherence to site policies, including those related to food and drink, service animals, unattended children, etc. and enforce them politely but firmly.
- Provide Customer Service: Address any concerns or inquiries from patrons with a focus on providing excellent customer service, balancing security responsibilities with a customer-friendly approach.
- Document Incidents: Record and report any incidents or policy violations promptly and accurately, ensuring all relevant information is communicated to the appropriate parties.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to maintain site-specific security orders
- Must be able to pass a background check & drug test
- Must have a working and functional smartphone with data to conduct reports
- Must own personal transportation or have reliable transportation to get to and from work
Education:
- High school diploma or GED is required
