Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Signal Security is seeking highly disciplined, physically capable, and professional Security Officers to provide security services within a demanding, 24-hour hospital Emergency Room environment.
This is not a traditional security position, and it is not intended for individuals seeking a low-activity assignment.
We are looking for dependable, mentally resilient individuals who can maintain their composure, demonstrate sound judgment, and respond effectively to unpredictable and potentially dangerous situations.
Military veterans, former law enforcement officers, and individuals with experience in high-risk security environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
Emergency Room security requires more than simply observing and reporting. Officers must be prepared to respond to confrontations, assist hospital personnel during emergencies, and maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and medical staff.
Physical readiness, emotional control, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential requirements of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Military, Law Enforcement, or Security Experience: Minimum 2 years of military service, law enforcement experience, corrections experience, or professional security experience is required.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically capable of performing demanding security duties, including prolonged standing, extensive walking, rapid response to emergencies, and authorized physical interventions when necessary.
- Clean Background: Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation and meet all applicable state licensing and hospital security requirements. Criminal history will be evaluated in accordance with applicable law.
- Emotional Control: Must demonstrate the ability to remain calm, composed, and professional when dealing with aggressive, hostile, intoxicated, or emotionally distressed individuals.
- Situational Awareness: Must remain alert, recognize developing threats, and respond appropriately to changing circumstances.
- Sound Judgment: Must be capable of making logical decisions under pressure while following established procedures and recognizing the limits of security authority.
- Professional Appearance: Must maintain a clean, professional appearance and properly wear the required Signal Security uniform.
- Communication Skills: Must communicate clearly and professionally with hospital staff, patients, visitors, supervisors, and law enforcement.
- Dependability: Must demonstrate excellent attendance, punctuality, personal accountability, and the ability to work independently.
- Schedule Flexibility: Must be available for assigned eight-hour shifts, including days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Licensing: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Florida FDACS Class D Security Officer License and all other required state certifications.
- Certifications: Must obtain Taser and handcuff certification as required by Signal Security and the client site.

- Exercise restraint and sound judgment during potentially violent encounters.
- Respond decisively when circumstances require immediate action.
- Maintain professionalism regardless of the behavior or emotional state of others.
