Job description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced **2nd shift** Heavy Earth Moving Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our Reading Anthracite Company. This position is responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heavy mining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation in a demanding work environment. Must have heavy equipment mechanic experience on loaders, backhoes, haul trucks, excavators, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy earth moving equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, haul trucks, and drilling equipment.
· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
· Conduct inspections of equipment before and after use to ensure proper operation and identify potential failures.
· Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment records in accordance with company standards.
· Work closely with equipment operators to understand issues and recommend effective solutions.
· Adhere to all safety regulations, mine site protocols, and environmental standards.
· Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
· Assist in maintaining parts inventory and ordering necessary supplies.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED; Technical certification or vocational training in heavy earth moving equipment mechanics preferred.
· Minimum 3–5 years of experience working on heavy earth moving equipment (required), preferably in a mining or similar industrial setting.
· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication techniques.
· Familiarity with MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations and safety procedures.
· Ability to read and interpret service manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
· Must be physically capable of lifting heavy components, working in confined spaces, and performing duties in all weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license; CDL or equipment operator certification is a plus.
Work Conditions:
· On-site work in a surface anthracite mine, will require candidate to be a part of a transient crew that travels to other mines within an approximate 4 mile radius.
· Exposure to dust, noise, extreme temperatures, and large equipment.
