Position Overview: Wise Batten seeks a skilled and passionate Forester to join our team. The successful candidate will be vital in managing and preserving our forests, ensuring their long-term sustainability, and optimizing their economic and ecological value. This position requires a deep understanding of forestry principles, strong analytical abilities, and a commitment to responsible resource management.
Key Responsibilities:

Forest Management: Implement and oversee sustainable forest management plans, including timber harvesting, reforestation, and wildlife habitat improvement.

Timber Cruising: Conduct timber cruises to estimate timber volumes, assess stand health, and plan harvest operations.

Environmental Stewardship: Promote and adhere to environmental best practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and responsible land management.

Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to forest inventory, growth, and health using technology and statistical tools.

Mapping and GIS: Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create maps, manage land databases, and support decision-making.

Timber Sales: Manage timber sales processes, including marking trees for harvest, contract negotiation, and monitoring harvest operations.

Wildlife Management: Collaborate with wildlife biologists to integrate wildlife conservation and habitat enhancement into forest management plans.

Client Relations: Work closely with landowners and clients to understand their objectives and provide forestry consulting services that align with their goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Forester certification or eligibility.
- 3+ years of relevant forestry experience.
- Strong knowledge of forestry principles, techniques, and regulations.
- Proficiency in GIS software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
