About the Role
Signal Security is looking for reliable and attentive Firewatch Monitors to join our Jacksonville team. This is not a security position. Firewatch Monitors are responsible for monitoring assigned properties for fire hazards and reporting any concerns promptly and accurately.
What You Will Do
- Conduct a complete patrol of the assigned property every hour
- Observe and watch for:
- Smoke or signs of fire
- Fire hazards
- Unusual odors (burning, gas, electrical, etc.)
- Active fire alarms or alarm trouble indicators
- Safety hazards that could increase fire risk
- Immediately call 911 in the event of a fire, smoke, or life safety emergency — then notify your supervisor
- Report non-emergency hazards to the designated property contact and document them in the Edge app
- If a security issue arises, observe from a safe distance if possible and immediately notify the designated contact or call 911 if there is an immediate threat to life
Documentation
During each hourly patrol, you are required to:
- Complete all assigned checkpoints in the Edge app
- Record the patrol with accurate notes
- Submit a Maintenance Report for any hazards or deficiencies that need attention
- Submit an Incident Report for emergencies, unusual events, or significant observations
What This Role Is NOT
- This is not a security officer position
- You will not enforce rules or regulations
- You will not confront, detain, or remove individuals
- You will not investigate crimes or suspicious activity
- You will not perform access control or security patrols
- You will not represent yourself as a security officer at any time
Uniform
- Bright orange company shirt
- Signal ID badge labelled: FIREWATCH — Non-Security Personnel
Professional Conduct
- Remain alert and attentive throughout your entire shift
- Be courteous and professional with all occupants at all times
- Stay within your assigned area unless directed otherwise
- Never leave your assigned post without authorization
What We Are Looking For
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to walk and patrol a property for an entire shift
- Comfortable using a mobile app for documentation
- Good communication skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- No security license required
Important Reminder
Your responsibility is to observe, document, and report. You are not expected to intervene in emergencies or perform security functions. Accurate patrols, timely reporting, and thorough documentation are the most important parts of your assignment.
