Location: Greater Baton Rouge State Fair, 16072 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA
Event Dates: Monday, Oct 19 through Sunday, Nov 1, 2026
Schedule: Weekday evenings, weekends, and one pre-opening day shift (details below)
Pay: $17.00/hr
Role Overview
Signal Security of Baton Rouge is staffing the 2026 Greater Baton Rouge State Fair and we are hand-picking a professional team. This is a short-term, high-visibility assignment.
Our officers are seen by the public and the local business community every night, and we only want people we are proud to put in our uniform.
Top performers will be considered for ongoing positions with Signal of Baton Rouge.
The Assignment
- Pre-Opening: 10/19-10/22 (Mon-Thu)
1 Position, Day shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Weekdays: 10/22-10/23 (Thu-Fri), and 10/26-10/30 (Mon-Fri)
7 Positions, Evening Shifts: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM (11:00 PM at the latest) - Weekends: 10/24-10/25 (Sat-Sun) and 10/31-11/1 (Sat-Sun)
12 Positions, Long Shifts: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM (11:00 PM at the latest)
Responsibilities
- Posts include gate entry screening (metal detector wands), the guest drop-off area, and roving support
- Radios and screening equipment are provided
- Work your assigned post exactly per post orders
- Greet the public professionally and screen guests courteously and consistently
- De-escalate verbally, call your supervisor early, and contact on-site law enforcement for suspicious or criminal activity
- Stay in radio contact and complete accurate electronic reports every shift
Standards & Expectations
- Early, in full uniform, and ready at the start of every shift
- Professional appearance and command presence
- Calm under pressure: you control your temper and de-escalate first
- You show up for the shifts you commit to. This event has no backup bench
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older; high school diploma or GED
- Able to pass background check and drug screening
- Able to obtain Louisiana security officer registration (LSBPSE). We help with the process
- Reliable transportation
- Able to stand and walk for long periods outdoors and lift up to 50 lbs
- At least ONE of the following: military service, law enforcement or corrections, 1+ year professional security, or 2+ years in crowd-facing work (events, venues, hospitality, loss prevention) with verifiable references
