We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and forward-thinking Director of Sales to lead our commercial solar sales division. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing all sales strategies, leveraging cutting-edge tools including AI-driven insights, driving significant revenue growth, and expanding our market share in the commercial solar sector. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of success in B2B sales leadership, preferably within the renewable energy or solar industry, and a keen understanding of how technology can optimize sales performance. You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and managing a high-performing sales team and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy, incorporating data analytics and AI-driven insights, to achieve ambitious revenue targets and market expansion goals for our commercial solar projects.
- Team Building & Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead a dynamic team of commercial solar sales professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and accountability. Set clear sales targets and KPIs, and manage team performance, potentially utilizing AI tools for coaching and performance analysis.
- Market Development: Identify and aggressively pursue new market opportunities, industry verticals, and geographic regions. Utilize market intelligence and AI-driven analysis to uncover trends and target high-potential segments.
- Sales Process Optimization: Continuously refine and optimize our sales process, from lead generation (potentially enhanced by AI lead scoring) to proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal closure. Champion the use of AI-powered tools and CRM enhancements to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, lasting relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and channel partners. Understand their unique energy needs and and tailor solar solutions, leveraging AI for personalized engagement strategies and deeper insights.
- Financial Acumen: Oversee the creation of compelling client proposals, demonstrating a strong grasp of complex solar financing options, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), leases, and direct ownership models.
- Forecasting & Reporting: Develop accurate sales forecasts and manage robust sales pipelines using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), leveraging AI-enhanced forecasting tools to provide executive leadership with precise performance reports.
- Industry Expertise: Stay ahead of the curve on industry trends, competitor activities, market conditions, and crucial government regulations and incentives (e.g., ITC, state-specific programs), utilizing AI for competitive intelligence and trend analysis.
- Cross- Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with marketing, engineering, operations, and finance teams to ensure seamless project execution and exceptional customer satisfaction, promoting data-driven decision-making across all departments.
- Networking: Represent the company at leading industry events, conferences, and networking functions to elevate brand visibility and generate high-quality leads.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive sales experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior sales leadership role (e.g., Sales Manager, Director of Sales).
- A proven track record of consistently exceeding B2B sales targets.
- Direct experience in the commercial solar industry is highly preferred. We will also consider candidates with experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, or complex B2B technical sales.
- Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing successful sales strategies, with a clear understanding of how to integrate modern technologies and data analytics for optimal results.
- AI & Tech Savvy: A strong aptitude for, or direct experience with, leveraging AI-powered sales tools and analytics platforms (e.g., AI-driven CRM features, predictive lead scoring, market intelligence tools, sales automation) to enhance sales performance and market insights.
- Solar Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial solar project development, diverse financing mechanisms (PPAs, leases, etc.), and relevant incentives.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building skills, coupled with outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce); experience with CRMs that incorporate AI features is a significant advantage. Strong command of MS Office Suite.
- Analytical Prowess: Ability to analyze sales data, identify key trends, and make impactful data-driven decisions, enhanced by an understanding of AI's potential in sales analytics.
- Drive & Adaptability: Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
