Armed Security Officer – Anchorage, Alaska

Location: Anchorage, AK (with travel as needed)
Job Type: Part-Time / On-Call
Pay: $28.00 – $33.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Overview
Signal is seeking a highly experienced Armed Security Officer with a background in law enforcement to provide on-call and coverage support for our Anchorage-based operations and other locations across Alaska.
This role is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and able to respond to short-notice shift coverage needs. Officers may also be required to travel to other OCS locations to support operations.
Schedule & Availability Requirements
- On-call / as-needed coverage position
- May be scheduled for:
- Week-on / week-off rotations
- Monday – Friday shifts (7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Be available to accept shifts on short notice
- Flexibility is required based on operational needs
Travel Requirements
- Open or willing and able to travel to support coverage at other locations, including:
- Juneau, AK
- Fairbanks, AK
- Kenai, AK
- Wasilla, AK
Key Responsibilities
- Provide armed security services to protect personnel, property, and assets
- Conduct roving patrols and maintain a visible presence at assigned posts
- Respond quickly and professionally to incidents and emergencies
- Provide escort services for staff and state personnel
- Perform screenings and follow site-specific safety procedures
- Complete detailed incident and activity reports using company systems
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members
- Maintain accountability and care of all assigned equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years of state or state approved waiver may be granted with Doc, DJJ, Military Experience.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be able to obtain an Alaska Armed Guard License
- Ability to complete required training within the first 30 days
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4–10 hours)
- Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to wear a professional security uniform
